It's one of the core themes of KOTOR 2, that the Jedi/Sith are so reliant on the Force that without it they are nothing. Once his willpower is eroded and he loses that ability he's no stronger than any other Sith Lord, and likely weaker than most. The same goes for Sion who, while a powerful Sith, is only unbeatable due to his ability to refuse to let death take him. Without being a Wound in the Force Nihilus would have been nothing special. It's leagues more powerful than the standard force power because it's not the standard power, it's literally him being a void in the Force and pulling the life from others to sustain himself. His drain shouldn't be compared to the force drain power - it's not something he does, it's something he is, something horrible that was done to him that he's managed to turn into a strength (and weakness, since he'll 'starve' if he doesn't feed his hunger). I'd say Nihilus himself is overrated, and its only the strength of his drain that makes him a threat. Nihilus's drain is horribly overrated honestly. There's also the biggest issue: The whole matter of draining a planet is told to us from a biased perspective filled with hyperbole, and we've seen people nowhere near as powerful as an average Jedi (Canderous) be uneffected by him speaking, which is supposedly all it took to drain a planet. Source: The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia In the meantime, Darth Nihilus led his Sith forces from his flagship, the Ravager, drawing more and more power from worlds that he blasted into ruin.
